A Plinth, in no uncertain terms

For the 2019 Fringe Arts Bath, I made a plinth for the Potato Sarcophagus which was large and noticeable. Upon it was written the story of the Thrice Blessed potatoes of Sigmar Polke.

However the curator of the show decided that the sarcophagus and the plinth should be exhibited separately. Hard to say what viewers might have made of either alone…

The Potato Sarcophagus

I felt that the sarcophagus might have looked quite important on its huge, over dominant  plinth, whereas alone on a bed of compost and with no explanation its magical qualities were not apparent. Nor, therefor, would the story on the plinth relate to any specific thing.

Ah me… I did quite like the plinth in its teetery form and ugly colour.

  1. And what a journey they have had…I too like the teetering nature of the cardboard plinth…the Philip Guston pink is a thing to behold…xx
