Adam and Eve

For an exhibition, Stay, in the Walcott Chapel, Bath, I felt some festive windows would cheer the place up.

Actually it is a very beautiful and spare space, doesnt need cheering atall.

Using illustrations from a wonderful Home Doctor book (vol 1, A-B), published in 1925, which I had found on a flytiping site in Kent, stained glass windows of Adam and Eve were printed onto some translucent banner material. They were hung facing eachother across the room.

The medical text indicated that Adam suffers from fine and honest ‘Aches and Pains’ which are explained in further detail in the text. All of winsome Eve’s complaints relate to her reproductive function, not one of which is mentioned in text page. One is led to conclude thus that if only Eve could get over being female she would be fine.
